Workshop: Circle of Youth ring Instructor: Carol Schmid & Shannon Jambard Cost of kit: $6.50-8.00 for sterling wire and $2.00-3.00 for craft wire, depending on the stone. OR, bring your own supplies: 12" of 18 or 20 gauge sterling wire and 6-8mm round bead (make sure the wire can go through the hole) Tools used: (can be borrowed from Meant to Bead): ring mandrel, table vice, wire nipper, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, wire straightener. |

Mark Kenoyer This will be a PowerPoint lecture with time for discussion and show and tell of beads. Dr. Kenoyer will give a short overview of the origins of the Madison Bead Society followed by a presentation on the origins of stone bead production in the Indus Valley of Pakistan and Western India (7000 BS to 1900 BS). He will also talk about his recent studies of stone bead making in East Asia, China, Japan and Korea. Polymer Clay: Basics of Sculpting, Stamping, and Coloring Presenter: Liz Jones of LIZart Designs An Introduction of the basics of polymer clay including: coditioning clay, shaping, stamping with rubber stamps, coloring and baking. We'll take a block of one-color clay and learn how to condition it so it is easy to work with. Learn the benefits of using a pasta machine to roll out uniform thinkness of clay, and then use rubber stamps to add images & textures to the clay. Then we'll use mica powders and inks to change the look of your piece. Learn the basic about baking clays and tips and tricks on how to finish and mount your final piece. Cost/Supplies:
